book information

  • What is the title of your book?

  • What is the subtitle?

  • What is the title of the series?

  • What is the name of the author? Do you have a logo? A specific Font that's always used as part of your author brand?

  • Are you on a best-selling booklist like USA TODAY or from the New York Times?

  • Do you have a publisher whose name needs to be on the cover?

  • Do you have other books in the series?
This is important for creating a consistent look across multiple books in a series.

  • Does the ISBN Barcode need to be implemented?
Amazon will do that automatically for you, you'll just need to ensure that the place doesn't contain anything important. Best: leave it blank.
If you're using another platform, you may have to create your own barcode and place it on the cover yourself.

elements & imagery

To be able to place easter eggs on your cover or let the reader see what they can expect it's important to think about elements and imagery on your cover.

  • Is/ Are there specific elements you definitely want to have on your cover?

  • What are important elements in your book? For example a pearl necklace that plays an important role for a character.

  • Are there specific places/ settings that play an important role? If it's a mansion, you could think about using a mansion as background image.

  • Does the title maybe already give you an important element? For example you can integrate fire on your book cover if the title contains "Burn". Just like I did with this series:
